This is an ancient thread but I just wanted to hype up the Poetry Moon
<http://uusi.runokuu.fi/?lang=en> festival that began yesterday in
Helsinki, the eleventh consecutive week-long literature festival with more
than 40 events and more than 250 writers on stage and in workshops.
I've had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Rae Armantrout, first at
the US Embassy and yesterday at the opening night of the festival. She is
the main guest of Poetry Moon, and will give a lecture entitled "Poetry and
Intention or 'What Do You Mean? <http://uusi.runokuu.fi/?p=4228>'" next
Thursday.
This festival is something to keep your eye on in years to come, also
because the organizers (an association called Nuoren Voiman Liitto
<http://www.nuorenvoimanliitto.fi/international/>) are constantly searching
for interesting international poets, authors, and performers. The NVL also
has an international writers' and translators' residence. Check it out!
Happy summer days,
Kasper
