The research groups of Phillip M. Duxbury (Physics) and Benjamin G. Levine (Chemistry) at Michigan State University are seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoc with expertise in computational chemistry/physics. The successful candidate will work to model the electronic and optical properties of novel materials for application in solar energy conversion using a combination of electronic structure and dynamical methods drawn from both chemistry and physics, possibly developing methodology as required by the project. Goals include investigating the structure-function relationships which determine transport properties and the propensity for non-radiative decay. This position offers a very stimulating intellectual environment, as the successful candidate will work as a part of an interdisciplinary team including theorists and experimentalists in the departments of physics, chemistry, and chemical engineering to design novel materials. Our groups benefit from excellent computational resources, including our own Linux clusters and access to the Michigan State High Performance Computing Center.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, or a related field, excellent communication skills, and a strong track record of scientific productivity. He/she will have experience:
* modeling the electronic structure, transport properties, and/or dynamics of materials and/or molecules
* programming scientific applications in Fortran and/or C
To apply please submit a CV with a full publication list and the contact information for three references to jobs.msu.edu (posting number 1677). If you have any questions, please contact Ben Levine at [log in to unmask] or Phil Duxbury at [log in to unmask] Applications will be considered starting August 1 2015 and the search will continue until the position is filled.
