Exhibition: Germany’s Confrontation with the Holocaust in a Global Context
Fusion Gallery, Jackfield Tile Museum, Ironbridge, 7th–13th September 2015
Special Event: 8th September 2015, 7pm – 9.15pm
You are invited to a special event on 8th September 2015 to mark the occasion of an exhibition hosted by the Institute for German Studies and the Ironbridge International Institute for Cultural Heritage, University of Birmingham.
This exhibition explores the way Germany has been trying, since the end of the Second World War, to face up to its responsibility for the horrific crimes of the Holocaust. The exhibition also draws parallels to other global contexts. It explores how nations and individuals confront traumatic histories, asking why and how we remember the past. The exhibition was designed and produced by academics in the German Department at the University of Leeds, in collaboration with the South African Holocaust and Genocide Foundation and the National Holocaust Centre and Museum.
