This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Lead Statistician to work with Professor David Price, Managing Director and Respiratory care expert, to carry out cutting edge statistical methodology research and investigator led clinical trials in respiratory medicine and associated comorbidities.
Cambridge Research Support Ltd provides technical services to Research in Real Life (Ltd), our Cambridge and Singapore based medical research company specialising in respiratory research. We have an opening for a Lead Statistician within the Cambridge Research Support team, working from our Cambridge office or from home.
The Lead Statistician will carry out the analysis and dissemination of data from both large-scale, clinical databases and randomised controlled trials. The Lead Statistician provides a key role within the team, supporting and mentoring other members of the statistics team and deputising for the Head of Statistics in their absence. This is a varied and progressive role within a small, thriving research company working with mixed data sets. The right candidate will benefit from self-managing their own workload and building their skills through attending conferences and contributing to published works.
Qualifications & skills Essential:
A minimum of two years of employment based experience in statistical analysis
A first or post-graduate degree in statistics or similar subject
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills in English
Excellent statistical modelling skills and the ability to interpret analysis results
Sound IT skills and programming experience in SAS and SPSS
Ability to apply statistical thinking project objectives
Desirable:
Some knowledge of health economics
Experience in planning and analysis of RCTs
Job Specification
Act as study statistician for entire through-life of Observational (database) studies and RCTs, influencing project strategy and processes
Provide statistical input to study proposals, protocols and statistical analysis plans, including:
Study design
Sample size & power calculations
Statistical methods
Carry out or supervise exploratory data analysis of datasets and baseline analysis
Carry out complex statistical analyses of study outcomes and assist in the interpretation of results
Contribute to the final statistical analysis report
Provide statistical advice and support in the dissemination of final results as:
Abstracts, posters and oral presentations at international & national conferences
Academic publications
Coach and mentor statisticians with their own workload
Work with the Head of Statistics to develop the statistical team within Research in Real-Life and promote the interaction of the team with other companies in the group
Starting salary will be in the range of £30,000 to £40,000 pa, dependent on qualifications and relevant experience.
