Hello Angela and Sue,

We have tracked down the HEA report on programme leadership. Here's the link:

http://www.hear.ac.uk/assets/was%20York%20-%20delete%20this%20soon/documents/johnston_final_report.pdf

Hope this is useful to you in your review of support for programme leaders.

Best wishes,

Kathy

Hi Sue,

An HEA-supported project on programme leadership was done at Edinburgh Napier some years ago and a report produced by Veronique Johnston and Jenny Westwood. (I was on the steering group.) I found a link to the summary page

(below) but the link to the full report on the HEA website was broken.

https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/resources/detail/resources/detail/evidencenet/Su

mmaries/academic_leadership_developing_a_framework

From what I recall, that work didn't actually produce resources but subsequently further projects were done at Napier to take this forward.

Further information may be found at:

http://staff.napier.ac.uk/services/hr/development/acprofdev/PL/Pages/reports

.aspx. The report I was thinking of was done by Courtnay MacLeod (now left

Napier) and is at:

http://staff.napier.ac.uk/services/hr/development/acprofdev/PL/Documents/Pro

gramme%20Leading%20Report_FINAL_16Dec2011.pdf, though there is another one by Fiona-Jean Howson.

In terms of development, you may also be interested in the SEDA PDF awards, notably Leading Programmes and Developing Leaders, information at:

http://www.seda.ac.uk/leading-programmes. If you need further information please contact Roz Grimmit at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> .

I hope that's helpful.

Kind regards,

Angela

Subject: support for programme leaders in your institutions

Dear SEDA list members

At Lincoln we are reviewing and developing the support provided for programme leaders and wondered whether any of you would be willing to share examples of practice from your own institutions.

We are particularly interested in the following

1. The type of support provided for programme leaders (e.g. workshops,

guidance documents)

2. Examples of handbooks or other guidance documents designed to

support programme leaders in their role

3. Whether you have any sort of community (online or offline) to

support programme leaders or whether support is managed locally

As always, I am happy to collate any responses and circulate them to the list.

Best wishes

Sue
