Hi
I've been asked by the Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland Secretariat to circulate the following opportunity...
MOBILITY AND ACCESS COMMITTEE FOR SCOTLAND
The Government's advisory committee on making transport more accessible for disabled people is looking for new members.
The Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland was set up under the Transport (Scotland) Act 2001 to advise Scottish Ministers on disability issues in relation to transport. While supported by Transport Scotland, the Committee offers its views independently of government and it is expected to reflect the views of disabled people and organisations representing disabled people, but it works independently of those individuals and organisations.
The Government is looking to appoint up to four members of the Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland. If you feel that you know about the issues that affect disabled people when using transport, that you work in a team and challenge Government to do more or to do things differently, then this may be the appointment for you.
Ministers are especially keen to appoint people to the Committee who have knowledge of equalities legislation, cognitive impairments, understanding of the role of local and/or central Government or knowledge about providing transport services or infrastructure. In this context we would strongly encourage members of the transport academic community to consider applying.
For more information and an application pack you can visit the Scottish public appointments website at www.appointed-for-scotland.org<http://www.appointed-for-scotland.org/> or call 0300 244 1898. You need to apply by 24 July 2015.
The Government welcomes applications from groups currently under-represented on Scotland's public bodies, such as women, disabled people and people aged under 50.
