The Centre for Transport Studies is pleased to welcome
Professor Wu Chen (Hong Kong Polytechnic University)
to lead a seminar entitled
GNSS Integrity - from concepts to implementation
to be held
Monday 6th July 2015 @ 16:00
Please join us for presentation and discussion at
Room 207, Skempton (Civil Eng.) Building, Imperial College London
Abstract
Integrity is an important concept for GNSS navigation safety. Currently, many different integrity concepts and algorithms have been proposed. In this presentation, the fundamental concepts and different implementation methods will be reviewed. Moreover, the existing integrity monitoring methods face some problems, such as how to transforming the integrity protect level from measurement domain to position domain, how to reduce the error distribution tails to obtain more realistic protection level, and how to evaluate the performance of integrity of GNSS. In this presentation, we will present a new framework of integrity monitoring concepts, which will enable to vertically integrate various integrity monitoring methods. Within this framework, the integrity monitoring methods in different stages can be effectively connected, which will significantly reduce the error distribution tails.
About the Speakers
Professor Wu Chen is a professor at Department of Land Surveying and Geoinformatics (LSGI), Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his BSc degree from Chinese University of Science and Technology, MSc from the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics, China, and PhD from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. He has been actively working on GNSS related research for over 30 years and has been working on a large number of research projects funded by universities, governments, and industries. He is currently associate head of the Department of Land Surveying and Geoinformatics and the director of Navigation and ITS laboratory. His main research interests are GNSS applications, GNSS performance evaluation, and system integration. He has published over 300 technical papers in various journals and international conferences..
About the CTS Seminar Series
The CTS seminar series aims to facilitate discussion on current research topics in the transport field. Seminars are held jointly with our colleagues in the Centre for Transport Studies at University College London. They are usually held on Wednesday afternoons at Imperial College London or University College London.
Seminars are free of charge and open to all interested parties.
