Dear Anthropology-Matters Subscribers,
At Bloomsbury Publishing we are working with The LSE Anthropology Department to help get your first monograph published. This annual competition is aimed at supporting early career researchers in anthropology with publishing their first monograph, and is structured so that dissertations or partly revised thesis manuscripts can be submitted.
As the diversity of our current publications would suggest, we welcome research from all regions and a wide range of settings. The LSE Monographs series includes classic books by authors such as Edmund Leach, Raymond Firth, Alfred Gell, Sutti Ortiz, Lucy Mair, Isaac Schapera, Frederik Barth, Maurice Bloch, Peter Van Der Veer and Yunxiang Yan. The competition aims to find authors with the potential to create new classics. We particularly aim to discover younger scholars who use the radical empiricism of ethnography to explore central aspects of human experience.
The LSE Anthropology Department will collaborate with the chosen author to revise their work for publication. They will contribute their expertise by holding a departmental writing workshop in May 2016 with the winner. On the basis of the advice received in this event and peer reviews the author will then revise their final manuscript for submission to Bloomsbury.
The closing date for the first round of submissions is midnight on 15 January 2016. Applications should be in the form of a book proposal presented on a standard form (available from www.bloomsbury.com/uk/academic/for-authors/submit-a-book-proposal). Along with this the full manuscript, which can be an unrevised dissertation. Both documents should be emailed to the series editor, Laura Bear ([log in to unmask]).

We look forward to receiving your manuscripts!
