QUALITATIVE POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (PUMA)
£32,277 pa
You will join a research study entitled "PUMA (Paediatric early warning Utilisation and Mortality Avoidance) which is funded by the National Institute for Health Research as part of a themed call to reduce mortality/morbidity in UK children. This study is being co-ordinated from Cardiff University. This multi-centre study has a Welsh hub; Cardiff Children's University Hospital and the Paediatric Unit at Swansea District General Hospital. There is also a Northern hub, co-ordinated from Liverpool University. This post is institutionally based at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool and The Paediatric Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral. You will have a PhD with qualitative research experience; including focus groups, semi-structured interviews, participant observation and realist evaluation in a hospital wards. You will be working on a project with sensitive health issues and potentially dealing with families in distress. You should be comfortable and experienced with work of this nature and with the principles of ethical conduct in research. You will manage data collection and curation, assist the Principal Investigator in managing field teams (together with our project manager), perform statistical analyses and produce reports and papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential to the role to ensure effective working across both sites of the Northern hub. The post is available immediately for 3 years. THIS IS NOT A LAB BASED STUDY.
