medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Hi Meg,
I think Patriarchs would be the best fit - think Abraham and the like.
Best wishes,
Sara

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Greetings all!
I´m looking at a Danish prayer book in which a prayer naming lots of individual saints concludes with groups, namely the Theban Legion, the 11,000 Virgins, the 15 'need helpers' (how are they referred to in English? Its hard to get the Danish out of my head!), the 24 ollæfær - this is what I really need help with! The closest I can get is the Danish word for grandfather, which hardly makes sense in the context. Patriarchs, perhaps? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Meg
