there is currently a vacancy for a Statistician at the Statistical Services Centre (SSC), University of Reading, UK.
The SSC provides statistical consultancy and training to a range of clients in the UK and abroad. We are looking for a Statistician to join our team. It should be emphasised that the post is for a consultant; this is not an academic or research position.

The appointment is full-time, fixed-term for 2 years, Grade 6 - £28,695 to £37,394 per annum.
The ideal candidate will be expected to make a strong contribution to all of the areas of interest to the SSC; in particular our monitoring and evaluation (M&E) work in developing countries, much of which is in Sub-Saharan Africa. Hence the candidate must be happy to travel within the UK and abroad, including Africa and Asia. Equally, given the variety of our work, we are seeking an enthusiastic person who enjoys the challenge of applied statistical problems and likes to keep up to date with statistical developments.
You will have:
*at least a M.Sc. in Statistics, Economics, or equivalent quantitative subject.
*experience of working in a statistical role involving monitoring and evaluation in developing countries.
*a willingness to travel, both within the UK and abroad.
*a good working knowledge of mainstream statistical software.
*the ability to work as part of a team and individually.
*excellent communication skills.
