To the extent that it's available it's automatic, so it should be accurate - why do you think otherwise? I agree that the need for configuration by hand, especially for the subcluster information, is very error-prone.

You don't have to maintain any of the general service information - usually the only things the sysadmin has to set for that are the site name (hard to avoid setting that by hand) and in some cases the supported VOs which the admin will have to configure somehow. And if you think the glue validator is "fairly busted" where are your GGUS tickets reporting the problems?

I specifically said I was talking about the OS on the service nodes, not the WNs.
