Research Fellow in Operations Research / Optimisation / Simulation for Transport/Logistics
24 months fixed term
£31,342 - £37,394 per annum
Deadline: 19/07/2015

Dear Colleagues

We are advertising a 2-year Research Fellow position to work on a British Council funded project. The project aims at using combinatorial optimisation and simulation techniques to analyse multimodal transport in maritime logistics environments to improve performance and access. The successful candidate will join the Liverpool LOgistics, Offshore and Marine (LOOM) Research Institute in Liverpool John Moores University, UK. The work is interdisciplinary and ideally requires a blend of skills across computing science, operational research, engineering and mathematics.

The required qualification and experience is a PhD in Engineering or Computing or Mathematics or other relevant areas with a focus on optimisation/ maritime transport and a proportionate publication record. The successful candidate should have strong programming skills and experience in working with combinatorial problems. Experience in evolutionary computation and/or doing computational simulations with Flexsim would be advantageous. The successful candidate should show strong motivation for independent research, the ability to communicate with industrial partners, and the will to assist with preparing future grant proposals.

Could you please forward this to any interested colleagues/candidates? Thank you very much.

Interested candidates please submit your application to our LJMU website https://jobs.ljmu.ac.uk/wd/plsql/wd_portal.show_job?p_web_site_id=4005&p_web_page_id=223096 . Please also send your CV and transcripts to Dr. Trung Thanh Nguyen [log in to unmask] for informal discussions. Please note the deadline is 19/07/2015.

Thank you very much

Best regards

Thanh
