Visit to the BBC Archives
The BBC Archives holds thousands of files, scripts and working papers from all parts of the BBC dating from the BBC’s formation in 1922 to the 1980s. This includes core documents which have formed the BBC’s written history, such as correspondence, memoranda, contracts, scripts and many publications and information about older programmes and the history of broadcasting. BBC Monitoring monitors and reports on mass media worldwide. They select and translate information from radio, television, press, news agencies and the internet from 150 countries in more than 70 languages.
