We are looking for an experienced Librarian with demonstrable management skills to lead and develop day-to-day operations at our site Library at Harlow Carr.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high quality information services and excellent customer care to Library users, while also looking to extend the reach of the Library and re-engineer the delivery model to attract a wider audience. In addition to basic collection management and reader services this will include activities such as creating displays and small scale exhibitions, and building links with other garden departments to ensure a collaborative approach to the promotion of events.
In addition to this post, the Library team at Harlow Carr currently consists of two part-time Librarians and a number of volunteers. The site manager will be responsible for recruitment, training and management of this team and other associated administrative functions relating to the day-to-day functioning of the Library.
Other responsibilities will include overseeing the Harlow Carr preservation programme and promoting the Library’s unique collections in order to raise its profile and broaden its appeal.
Working patterns are agreed on a weekly rota and include working one weekend in four. The post holder will report to the Deputy Head of Libraries (based at Wisley).
