Early-Stage Dementia Awareness Training for Arts Organisations and Facilitators, The Campaign for Drawing, 30 July 2015
This full-day training workshop will be run by Arts 4 Dementia and Dementia Pathfinders. The aim of the day is to give arts organisations and facilitators greater understanding, increased skills and confidence in communicating and working creatively with people experiencing the early stages of dementia and their carers.
At the end of the session participants will be able to:
· Demonstrate their understanding of the early stages of dementia and how it impacts on people's abilities and feelings
· Explain the key communication approaches when responding to people experiencing different realities or with muddled verbal communication
· Describe with confidence the value of arts based approaches when working with people in the early stages of dementia
· Explain the impact of Arts 4 Dementia's re-energising approach for participants
Suitable for: Arts organisations, learning and participation teams, arts facilitators and workshop leaders, volunteers and postgraduate arts students.
