Hi,
I'm sorry for this information trawl email, but I'm up against it with a Council meeting - in the North of England, where I'm objecting to a planning decision and trying to highlight the lamentable pedestrian access to a road. So it's planning for England & Wales, I presume.
Basically, the pavement stops to give access to a house at the corner of this road and a main road. so at one side of the junction, one has to leave the pavement and walk on road, at this corner access point, and hope a car doesn't come too fast turning into the road. On both sides of this access point (so at both sides of this corner) the pedestrian pavement stops. On the other side of this road, there is no pedestrian access at all.
There are no 'slow' signs, give way signs, nothing. It's also used as a rat-run for traffic avoiding some lights.
I am sorry that this is slightly off the usual cycling thread - but it's kind of about helping modal shift and attacking crap access which actually endangers cyclists, too.
Thanks for any advice - please, if you don't quite understand my description I'll try and upload a picture or sketch (if the mail list allows it).
