Hi
This year we have had issues with students submitting large files and causing significant performance issues. The issue tends to occur when numerous students are trying to submit files of over 1GB- The largest file i think we had was 4.6GB. Whilst we have worked to educate staff and students that submitting such large files is not a good idea it is only natural for them to push the limits of the service. We had looked to implement a file size upload limit however it appeared that the student submissions did not respect the file size limit in our current version (SP13).
We are now retesting this limit on UAT ( running October 2014) and I am not getting the experience i was expecting. A student can submit any size file- when the file has fully uploaded only then does the file size limit kick in- showing either a bad gateway page if the file is above the limit or the submission being successful.
We are exploring this with Blackboard support however I was wondering if other universities had problems with large file submissions and if you have implemented any file size limits and how they are working for you.
Many Thanks
Mat
