HREA will offer three e-learning courses on migration and asylum topics from September-December 2015:
· Human Trafficking and Smuggling (16 September-27 October)
· EU Migration and Asylum Law and Policies (28 October-8 December)
· Forced Migration (28 October-8 December)
Each course involves approximately 30 hours of reading, online working groups, interaction among students and the instructors, webinars, quizzes and a writing assignment. Students who successfully complete a course will receive a Certificate of Participation.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SMUGGLING
Instructor: Kirill Boychenko
Dates: 16 September-27 October 2015

This e-learning course analyses the concepts of human trafficking and migrant smuggling. It examines various practical cases from around the globe and focuses on existing policies and practices of prevention and prosecution.
After the course, participants will be able to:
· identify the international legal standards on trafficking and smuggling;
· explain the challenges in addressing trafficking and smuggling and providing protection and assistance for victims of trafficking;
· gain skills in developing, implementing and applying strategies and action plans to combat trafficking and smuggling effectively.

EU MIGRATION AND ASYLUM LAW AND POLICIES
Instructors: Dr. Diego Acosta Arcarazo and Dr. Violeta Moreno-Lax
Dates: 28 October-8 December 2015

This course explores the complex policies and legislation that make up EU immigration and asylum law.
After the course, participants will be able to:
· explain the major directives, legislation, institutions and legal regimes that govern migrants and asylum seekers in the European Union;
· analyse how the EU deals with migrants and asylum seekers;
· examine whether EU legislation on migration and asylum conforms with international human rights standards.

FORCED MIGRATION

This e-learning course introduces participants to the international and regional systems and standards of refugee protection.
After the course, participants will be able to:
· describe the key international and regional refugee protection instruments;
· interpret the main trends in forced migration within current international migration patterns;
· assess current forced migration crises from legal, policy and operational perspectives.
