Vacancy: Statistical Scientist Specialising in Animal Health and Welfare
Research, Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland
We wish to recruit a statistician to our team working in the animal
health and welfare application areas. This position offers a
stimulating mix of work in collaboration with biological scientists to
reduce the incidence and impact of animal diseases and to improve animal
welfare, ranging from provision of advice through to methodological
development either in statistics or at the interface between statistics
and mathematical modelling.
Our ideal candidate for this position will have:
• a PhD in statistics or another discipline with a large statistical
component, or a relevant MSc with additional experience;
• experience of collaborative working at the interface between
statistics and biological sciences, corroborated by co-authored papers
in scientific journals; and
• the ability to interact positively, effectively and confidently
with non-statisticians in formal and informal situations.
Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 per annum
Three year contract, with the potential to be extended
This position will be based at the BioSS Edinburgh site.
