The 50th anniversaries of the International Sociology of Sport Association and the International Review for the Sociology of Sport are being celebrated in a number of ways in 2015. These include:
1. Articles in a special issue of the IRSS -- “50@50:Assessing the Trajectory and Challenges of the Sociology of Sport” (50: 4/5 June/August 2015) -- guest edited by current ISSA President Elizabeth Pike, past-president Steven Jackson, and current IRSS Editor Lawrence Wenner, that features perspectives from 50 notable scholars on a diverse range of thematic, theoretical, and methodological issues confronting the sociology of sport.

2. Six “Top Ten” virtual issues of “most downloaded articles” published in the IRSS. These “Top Ten” virtual issues are published in companion with the special 50th anniversary issue. This diversity is mirrored in each of the “Top Ten” virtual issues. From the first “Top Ten” virtual issue that is comprised of the most downloaded paper from each five-year period since the IRSS began in 1966 to five “Top Ten” virtual issues featuring the “Top Ten” most downloaded articles from each ten-year period in the 50-year history of the IRSS, a snapshot of lasting interest in the work of a diverse group of sociology of sport scholars emerges. These “Top Ten” virtual issues provide insight into key work that garnered attention over the 50 years of the IRSS.
