Dear Alpay,
There are indeed lists of such journals, and publishers, and a way to determine serious print on demand publishers from insertions ones. I will be happy to post a careful discussion of the way to identify these, and some helpful resources use in steering clear.
The last time this came up a few years, Sabine Junginger raised the issue. I offered some thought and was attacked by someone who claims that I have no right to speak on these issues. A similar centre-temps arose last week in which I have been threatened with an attack whenever I wrote on this subject. A list member has apparently joined us with no interest in design — instead, he has an apparent interest in revealing and attacking what he deems to be “cyber-terrorists,” “trolls,” and … “lolcows” (?).
In my case, I supposedly made statements about refusing to work with profit-making publishing firms. I never said this, but my nemesis claims that I did, and I am now attacked for failing to live up to statements I never made. Each time I speak on these issues, I am subject to attack.
So I’ll make you a deal: if the list owners impose an order preventing these attacks while I answer your questions, I will answer, and I will provide links and resources for most of what you need — including articles in Science, Nature, Times High Education Supplement, The Conversation, and Jeffrey Beall’s massive web site.
The list owners are David Durling and Keith Russell. If I have their assurance that I will not be attacked, I’m happy to answer your question. When I say attack, I distinguish between differences of opinion of any issue I may raise. People are free to have their own opinions, and they may disagree with me. I mean that a response to a post should not engender an attack in which I am labeled a hypocrite, a “lolcow” (?), or accused of double standards for replying to you.
I should not be subject to attack for things I never said or did.
Dear David and Keith: Am I safe to respond, or should I sit tight while you decide how to handle this situation?
Warm wishes,
Ken

Is there a specific list for "predator" & print on demand publishers in
design, or even better a list of the "predatory" design journals? There
appears to be a growing problem with research articles published in
these kind of journals; how or whether to evaluate for promotion etc.
Any help or direction would be kindly appreciated,
