I'm looking for any recent report on ebook publishing trends. I am interested in the 5 years 2010 to the present and would like to find data that reports on publishers working with intermediaries who provide library platforms eg Dawsonera, MyiLibrary, Ebsco ebooks, etc. I'd like to establish what percentage of overall HEI readership relevant publishing is available in ebook format. In a perfect world I'd like to be able to break this down by broad subject discipline. I have seen the JISC report from 2009/10. But was hoping for something more recent.
I have tried using Dawson Enter and Ingram Coutts platforms but both have a max hits limits that curtail the results. There is also the problem of multiple formats pbk, hard back, spiral bound, with cd, with web tools key, etc. I also realise that the growth in self-publishing adds further murk to the question as does the availability of open access books that may or may not be current and/or relevant to the HEI readership.
Failing that, has any UK HEI library service done a feasibility study on a planned transition to predominantly ebook provision, rationale and drivers, etc., that you would be willing to share?
Many thanks,
Sue
