I would like to let you know about my book describing an ethnographic study of recovery among mental health day center clients in the west of Ireland. The book engages methodological, ethical, political and theoretical debates as well as reporting on ethnographic evidence for the therapeutic effects of creativity and social support in day care environments internationally. workshop for early career researchers, entitled ‘Ethnographies and
Health’, to be held at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
in London, UK, on 1st and 2nd October, 2015.
We invite abstracts of up to 400 words for papers that explore
topic-based, methodological and theoretical questions of using
ethnographic approaches in health, and health-related research, from a
variety of disciplinary perspectives. Supported by a workshop grant
from the Foundation for the Sociology of Health &Illness, the workshop
will be free to attend and will be structured to allow for supportive
