Dear all
As you may be aware, the Society has been running the #ParliamentCounts campaign (see http://www.twitter.com/#ParliamentCounts ) during the election period, aimed at all UK parliamentary candidates. It raises the key points of our Data Manifesto with them, and asks each of them to commit to attending basic statistics training if they are elected on 7 May.
So far this has been very successful, with over 1,600 messages sent to over 1,000 candidates around the country (some have received it more than once). That’s a great start, but it still leaves hundreds of candidates who haven’t yet received any correspondence about it from people living in their constituency. We need to get more supporters to help us reach as many candidates as possible over the next week.
The RSS would be really grateful if those who haven’t already written to their local candidates can join other supporters by sending them a message using our standard text. This will take literally one minute, with the suggested message all written out for you to just press send. You just need to go to www.rss.org.uk/lobby and type in your postcode to find a list of candidates in your area.
Finally, any responses should be forwarded to [log in to unmask], as we are trying our hardest to keep a tally of exactly which candidates have signed up to our campaign and which haven’t. The current list of those who have is available at http://www.rss.org.uk/lobby
If you are able to support the #ParliamentCounts campaign by writing to your election candidates, that would be really helpful and much appreciated. Visit http://www.rss.org.uk/lobby to send your message.
Many thanks in advance.
With best wishes
Scott
