Dear Terry
Perhaps I'm placing to much emphasis on your use of the word 'avoid.
My point was that graphic designers, particularly at the scale of
designing book covers, spend their time addressing other responsibilities
that interest them and attract commissions.
With the process of commissioning graphic design so established now, yet
continually changing with the rise in other activities such as marketing
services, I can't believe what you suggest has not been tried, and tested.
But it probably does not go by the name of graphic design. Perhaps it
should, but I suspect marketing services professionals would not agree to
that. Looking to graphic design for this may be the wrong place.
Regards,
Rob
