Psychologists Against Austerity Campaign Update
The evidence from psychological research is clear, as applied psychologists it is our public and professional duty to be speaking out against the further implementation of austerity policies.
Responding to this calling, this campaign aims to mobilise psychologists and psychological knowledge to make a case against further austerity policies in the run up to the UK general election in May 2015.
What can you do - now is the time!
1. Sign and widely share our petition calling for an inquiry into the psychological impact of austerity:
https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/psychological-costs-of-austerity-inquiry
2. Anonymously share your story of Everyday Austerity on the website: https://psychagainstausterity.wordpress.com/everyday-austerity/
3. Join the mailing list via the website or email me (Sally). https://psychagainstausterity.wordpress.com/
4. Email your MP, local candidates and local press before the general election raising awareness of the evidence from the campaign briefing paper. This is actually crucial to making an impact. There is a template on the website for this.
5. Attend hustings and ask a question - suggestions on the website.
6. Read and share our briefing paper about the psychological impacts of austerity and our vision of alternative public sector reform.
7. Join us for our Week of Action, beginning 20th April. Details on the website, please get involved by raising awareness in your teams and services, mobilising your colleagues through the petition and writing letters to local press.
