New internship opportunity at the Egypt Exploration Society
The Egypt Exploration Society is looking for an intern to catalogue Amarna object cards in their Lucy Gura Archive during summer 2015. The successful candidate will join our team of staff and volunteers to catalogue object cards into our new library and archive catalogue. They will also take an active role in our upcoming exhibition, Excavating Egypt; engaging visitors, and assisting our visiting Egyptian scholars with their archive enquiries.
The role is based in our UK Office at 3 Doughty Mews, London and is a full-time position for 10 weeks over summer, starting on 1st June (or as soon as possible thereafter). Scheduling is flexible depending on the candidate, and applicants are encouraged to apply even if holidays are booked.
The ideal candidate will:
· have excellent IT skills
· be familiar with social media
· have attention to detail
· demonstrate ability to accurately check catalogue records
· ideally have experience of working with archive/museum collections
· have knowledge of international archive standards
The successful candidate will receive £250 per week (£2500 in total)
The closing date for applications is 5pm (GMT) on Monday 4 May 2015. First interviews for short‐listed candidates will be held at the Society’s London Offices during the week commencing Monday 11 May 2015. Candidates will also be required to take a short cataloguing exercise prior to the interviews.
