Senior Lecturer or Reader in Global Health (two posts)
https://www.hirewire.co.uk/HE/1061247/MS_JobDetails.aspx?JobID=59196
Reference: THW/15/059639/229
Salary Details: £48,743 to £61,715 per annum
Allowances: £2,323 London Allowance per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Contract Term: Full time
The Department of Social Science, Health and Medicine wishes to appoint TWO highly talented and original individuals in Global Health. While we will consider highly qualified social scientists with excellent records of research in any area of specialism within this broad field, we are particularly keen to recruit those with specialties in one of two areas: (a) ageing in an international context; (b) international or transnational health or medical policy; other things being equal, we will give priority to those with expertise in these areas. We also encourage applications from those who have high level skills in research methods or statistics in any of these priority areas, although this is not an essential requirement for either post.
Those appointed will have an established track record of publication, a clear research strategy, a fine teaching record at undergraduate and postgraduate level and experience in programme development and academic leadership in higher education. They will be expected to collaborate with other members of the Department in both teaching and research, to develop and deliver new taught modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and will have the opportunity to supervise research students in their areas of expertise. A commitment to collegiality is essential, as is willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with medical and biomedical researchers and practitioners, and with policy makers.
The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grade 8 scale or Reader scale, currently £48,743 to £61,715 per annum, plus £2,323 London Allowance per annum.
To apply for this post you will need to register with the university's recruitment system HireWire<https://www.hirewire.co.uk/HE/1061247/MS_JobDetails.aspx?JobID=59196> to download and submit the application form. Please note, should you wish to submit a CV or a short statement you will need to copy & paste these after the application form as part of the same document.
Interviews will be held on 28th April 2015.
Equality of opportunity is College policy.
Closing date: 09 April 2015
