Hi,
I've been researching Social Media (well, pretty much Twitter exclusively) but I'm a coder so I've been writing my own stuff to get to and analyse Twitter data. (If you're happy coding stuff then get back to me at the email in my signature and we can talk coding approaches).
I did do a little review of what's out there 'off the shelf', though. The bad news is that pretty much all of what I found gives away (sometimes very) limited access to their tools for free, and then they start to charge on top of that.
Culture 24 put together a good source of tools information here: http://weareculture24.org.uk/lets-get-real-resources/. (The list might be a little out of date by now, too - it seems anything over about 6 months old is "old" in social media terms).
I think it was Elena Villaespesa from the Tate who put that list together - and her Arts and Metrics blog is a good source too: http://artsmetrics.com/en/home/. She's created a really good Excel spreadsheet template for putting Twitter Analytics data into and trending it with.
The tool I found most useful was FollowerWonk: https://followerwonk.com/ - which as the name suggests is all about who follows who. As I say, it will only let you work with accounts up to a certain number of followers without asking for money, though.
If you don't already know him (he's based in Barcelona so you might...), Alex (and his team) at La Magnetica (http://www.lamagnetica.com/en/blog/) do some fantastic Social Media Analytics work, too. I believe Alex is running an SM Analytics workshop at M&W15 this year, so hopefully there will be some good information / blogging to come out of that in a few weeks' time, if it's not there already...
Hope this helps?
Best wishes
Dave

Subject: Social Media Analytics tool
Hi everyone
I'm a PhD researcher at Universitat Rovira I Virgili of Tarragona and I'm doing a survey on some Catalans museums on the web and especially on their presence on social media.Could you suggest me any useful analytic tool to help my statistic?
Thank you very much
