Departmental Lecturership in the Politics of Forced Migration

The Oxford Department of International Development seeks applications for a 1-year, full-time Departmental Lecturership in the Politics of Forced Migration, primarily to cover the sabbatical leave of Professor Matthew Gibney. The Departmental Lecturer will provide teaching and supervision on the MSc course in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies, as well as carry out research in this field. The post is tenable from 1 September 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter, until 31 August 2016.
Applicants should have: a doctorate in political science (or in another discipline if the applicant’s work uses a political science approach) with a focus on the politics of forced migration, completed or due to be submitted before the start of appointment; a strong knowledge of issues relevant to forced migration and the ability to lead a compulsory course on the Politics of Forced Migration on the MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies; proven ability and experience necessary to teach high-achieving and challenging graduate students in a multi-disciplinary environment and to carry out student assessment, examination and course design; an active research record in the field of forced migration and political studies; an academic publication record commensurate with stage of career; the ability to present research findings effectively to fellow professionals or other informed members of the public; and the ability to contribute effectively to the administrative work of the department and the ability to innovate and work effectively with colleagues as part of an multi-disciplinary team.
