Colleagues,

I am esp. looking for ideas on establishing new WGs for Geospatial IG (esp. looking at Urban Science, Environment, Transport data) . So, if you are interested, please let me know.

For Working Groups, the main requirement is to have clear deliverables within 18 month timeline, so the best way is to tie them to existing projects for example.
Details at https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/group-process-procedures.html

So if you think this is of interest , please get in touch, and I will be pleased to work with you to plan ideas for a WG proposal which we can submit to the Council/TAB for review. Thanks.

Best wishes,

Suchith

PS: btw minutes of the last Plenary meeting are at https://rd-alliance.org/group/geospatial-ig/post/minutes-geospatial-ig-meeting-p4-amsterdam.html

Subject: Invitation to Urban Science and City Analytics thematic - The Road Map Challenge discussions on March 9th 2015 @11:30 - 13:00 PDT (San Diego)

Colleagues,

On behalf of "Geo for All" http://www.geoforall.org , i am pleased to inform that we have established Urban Science and City Analytics Thematic led by Chris Pettit (University of Melbourne) and Patrick Hogan (NASA) to expand our research in this area and plan joint collaborations globally.

All those interested are welcome to join the thematic working group .All participants should support the 'Open Cities Guiding Principles.' (Thanks to Cameron Shorter for this.)

Open Cities - Guiding Principles :

All material created is made available for all under an Open License
All material is carefully designed (modular componentry) so that it can be built upon by others
All participants aim to reuse, extend and invent material (in that order)

We have decided to make use of the meeting opportunity at Research Data Alliance Plenary 5 San Diego, to expand this ideas at the joint meeting of IG Geospatial & IG Big Data. We have allocated some time for the Road Map Challenge discussion (joint ideas in Geospatial and Big Data ) See ideas in place at http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GeoForAll_UrbanScience_CityAnalytics
