We are seeking enthusiastic statisticians at various grades to join a leading centre for collaborative statistical support in clinical research at the Centre for Statistics in Medicine, Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.
You will take part in statistical collaboration involving the design, analysis and dissemination of clinical trials and studies, interacting directly with clinical researchers. Commensurate with the grade, duties include providing expert advice on statistical aspects of clinical research and study design, assisting in the development of grants proposals and identifying solutions to problems arising during execution and analysis of studies. You will take part in several concurrent trials/studies and ensure their completion within deadlines, and help maintain the trials/studies’ scientific quality and integrity. You will also participate in methodological research.
You will have a postgraduate degree in statistics with a substantial relation to medical statistics (or equivalent experience), good project management skills, the ability to grasp clinical research problems and identify hypotheses to be tested, good communication skills and the ability to explain complex statistical issues to non-statisticians . Experience of working in a UKCRC registered clinical trials unit is desirable.
For the grade 7 role you will also need experience of working as a medical statistician. For the grade 8 role, as well as considerable experience working as a medical statistician, some evidence of leadership, working with junior statisticians, initiative and financial management are desirable.
All posts are full-time fixed-term appointments for 2 years in the first instance.
