Hello Hille and Ola,
this is certainly of interest to me as well. I would not be interested
in CCTV per se in these countries, but would like to explore whether the
same notions of surveillance exist as they do in the over researched
countries, we have worked in so far? What are the conditions for the
spread of surveillance in African countries, beyond the urban centers
and beyond RSA. And I have to give credit to Ola for noting that Africa
cannot be conceived of as one - but for a start, it may be fine to do so
and find ways to differentiate the continent in terms of surveillance,
technologies used, policies already in place, social conditions found
etc… Although I have not done research there, I have a lot of
questions, so if you want to spin it further, I would appreciate any
exchange of ideas.
best wishes
nilz
