Thank you, meta-champions. You have encouraged me to comment on Roger's wonderful trayled guidon in the Sidney Journal. (Don't want to suffer metanoia - regret - but do want to to contribute to shaking up our meta-bolism.)
My thought was, since the guidon apparently sported a very personal impresa, might the Uranoscopus allude to Urania, sister unto Astrofell (Colin Clouts CHA, equally of the New Arcadia, and Lamon's Tale)? And the 'pulchrum propter se' be related to Harington's comment on Song 10 'Syr Philip Syd. To the bewty of the world'?
