Hi Catherine
This University is looking at the Information Governance Toolkit for access to research data. This is a different purpose and type of information, but I expect the general principles are the same. The entire University cannot be IG Toolkit compliant because the Toolkit is not designed for an environment with a high number of student users. However, we have found that HSCIC are willing to accept toolkit submissions for individual units of the University and enter into data sharing protocols with that area as if it were an individual entity. Would it be possible for your Children's Services to do their own toolkit assessment and be accepted in their own right?
Best wishes
Susan.

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO HANDLE ENQUIRES ABOUT STUDENTS AND STAFF?
"I'm worried about my daughter, is she attending classes?" "I'm phoning from the UKBA, I need John Smith's details."
Information about students and staff, including the fact that an individual is or is not a member of the University community, must not be disclosed to a third party, except for a good duly considered reason and in-line with University policy. For further guidance, including how to handle this type of enquiry, visit http://www.ed.ac.uk/records-management.

Subject: NHS Toolkit/ Hosted Secondary Use
Have any other authorities signed up to work with NHS England on the Child Protection Information Sharing Project? If so, do you already have an approved NHS IG Toolkit assessment, or do you plan to submit a Hosted Secondary Use assessment just to cover this project?
Our Children's Services have signed up to the project, but our corporate assessment is a long way off being completed so I'm looking into the Hosted Second use option.
Last but not least - if you have already submitted a Hosted Secondary Use assessment and had it approved - approximately how long did that approval process take?
I've contacted the HSCIC helpdesk but they weren't able to answer me immediately so have submitted an enquiry and in the past its taken months to get a response.
Thanks everyone
Catherine
