Wearable technology
will continue
to gain traction.
The Apple Watch is poised
to be the year's
must-have accessory,
especially if it can
count your calories.
Also look for garments
that charge your phone
or help you navigate
the streets with a gentle
push on the shoulder.

The silhouette
of men's and women's wear
will begin to shift.
An end to the tyranny
of skinny jeans and the return
of flares and culottes.
Men's suits are loosening up
as double-breasted jackets
make a comeback.
3
Menswear will explode.
Men have reached new
fashion-icon status.
4
Sexy continues
to get displaced
by elegance.
Sartorial taste-makers
refuse to play
the over-the-top game.
Restraint and exquisite
taste can have its own
explosive effect.
5
People will increasingly
become their own designers.
The cult of customization
is going mainstream,
spurred on by new
technology.
3-D printer cuff links,
earrings, eyeglass frames,
shoes - even dresses.

Out: the twin absurdities
of normcore and
athleisurewear.
These were "faux" movements.

Pet fashion designers
think about pattern, fabric and fit -
as well as where to put the poo bags.
Their work is becoming mainstream.
Pet fashion got a leg up when
American Eagle Outfitters
introduced a fake fashion line
on April Fool's Day:
American Beagle Outfitters.
"Our customers insist
this product becomes a reality",
says company spokesman.
Its tiny puffy jackets, sweaters
and hats sell for up to $40.
Dogfashionspa.com
retail Dog Mom Bathrobe
and matching Dog Bathrobe.
Cat Clothing.
Huge growth will occur
in feline fashions,
as more owners teach
their cats to go for walks.
Cats in colder climates
have learned to rely on
sweaters, coats and vests.
Clothing decorated
with LED lights
will make pets more
visible at night.
