That is because 13 October is the date of his Translation. (He was
translated again on the same date when the Abbey Church was rebuilt by
Henry III - but as I have explained before, a Translation Feast really
commemorates the canonisation, rather than the simple move of the
body.) This tended to be commemorated (even in England, except at
Westminster Abbey) in preference to the principal feast on 5 January,
because the latter clashes with the Vigil of the Epiphany.
