I would see if there is anyone who knows about J-Say and how nicely it
actually works these days.

I've worked with two blind colleagues who did have it set up on XP and Win
7 but both found it very system resource heavy and quite unstable. One
issue is that J-Say or JAWS or Dragon could crash and take the system down
with it and it would fail silently which is very difficult for a VI user.
Neither used it heavily partly because it was so buggy.

Maybe windows 8 and later versions of JAWS/Dragon play nicer but I
wouldn't want to assume that or at least I'd want the user to be aware of
this as an issue.

Maybe one of the specialist VI suppliers can say how well they know of it
working. I find the trainers at these places very helpful in general.
