If you go to www.licensingmodels.org you will find a suite of standard
licences, originally sponsored by the then major subscription agents and
created by me in the early 2000s, and updated since then. They are now
maintained by Ringgold as a service to the library and publishing
communities. you will find licences for single institutions and for
multiple institutions within a consortium. They are not dissimilar to the
JISC Collections model. But bear in mind that these are agreements defining
the rights and obligations of both the publisher and the library, so they
are inevitably going to be a little complex. They are available as
templates for anyone to use.

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Licences for small independently published
journals
Dear all,
I'm currently working with an academic who is the editor of an independently
published journal, and who is starting to build up a subscription base. The
journal has online access, currently via username & password, and I've been
advising her about access issues, licensing, discoverability and so on.
One potential subscriber has enquired about multi-site licensing issues, the
model for which has not yet been fully developed by the editorial team and
I've been asked to advise on creating a licence.
Has anyone got experience of advising academics about this sort of issue?
In particular, is there a licence template tool that we can potentially use?
I've got the JISC Collections template but was hoping for something a little
more straightforward to work through - I realise this may be wishful
thinking of course!
If anyone has any thoughts or advice, particularly around the licensing
issue, I'd be really grateful to hear from you.
Best wishes,
Sarah
