There is a post-doctoral research position available in the group of
Graham Worth at the University of Birmingham, UK. The project is to use
computer simulations to study the photoexcited dynamics of chromophores
involved in the green fluorescent protein, both in vacuo and solution.
The post is funded by the EPSRC as part of a collaboration with Prof.
Helen Fielding at UCL titled ‘Photoelectron spectroscopy in a liquid
microjet: unravelling the excited state dynamics of photoactive proteins’.
Applicants should have (or be about to receive) a PhD in theoretical
chemistry or physics, or in a related area. We are seeking candidates
with significant expertise in computer simulation, preferably in quantum
molecular dynamics. Expertise in non-adiabatic photochemistry is also
desirable. Other skills required are experience with quantum chemistry
programs to study molecular excited-states. Knowledge of the Heidelberg
MCTDH package is an advantage.
The post is for a period of two years, and is available from 1 February
2015. To download the details and submit an electronic application
online visit: www.hr.bham.ac.uk/jobs. Information can also be obtained
from 0121 415 9000 and informal inquiries may be made to Prof. Graham
Worth ([log in to unmask]).
For more details and the application form go to
http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/staff/jobs/index.aspx
and in "current vacancies" find job ref: 52128. Closing date 30/12/14.
