How To Improve Children’s Health: Putting Research Into Practice
26 – 27 January 2015
Cumberland Lodge
www.cumberlandlodge.ac.uk/childrenshealth

Following the publication of the Annual Report of the Chief Medical Officer “Our Children Deserve Better: Prevention Pays”, I am writing on behalf of Dr Owen Gower, Programme Director at Cumberland Lodge, to invite you to join us for a two day conference to gather the latest thinking on children's health in the UK and focus on recommendations for putting the research into practice.

The conference is designed to draw together health professionals, public health officials, representatives from non-governmental organisations, charity groups and academic researchers in the field of children's health. We will also be joined by Dr Claire Lemer (Consultant in General Paediatrics), the Editor in Chief of the Annual Report. The conference will explore four key areas:

•	Family Stress
•	Nutrition
•	Physical Activity
•	Care Outside the Home (Childcare, Education)

All sessions will emphasise discussion and collaborative responses from the floor, and there will also be more informal opportunities for continued discussion and networking throughout each day.

Speakers:
Dr Maggie Atkinson (Children’s Commissioner for England)
Richard Bartholomew (Chief Research Officer for Children, Young People and Families Directorate, in the Department for Education)
Alison Garnham (Chief Executive, Child Poverty Action Group)
Professor Yvonne Kelly (ESRC International Centre for Lifecourse Studies, UCL)
Dr Claire Lemer (Editor-in-Chief, "Our Children Deserve Better: Prevention Pays")
Dr Patricia Lucas (School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol)
Penny Mansfield CBE (Director, OnePlusOne)
Professor Helen Roberts (Institute of Child Health, UCL)
Dr Esther van Sluijs (Group Leader, MRC Epidemiology Unit & Centre for Diet and Activity Research (CEDAR), University of Cambridge)

Residential Delegate rate: £195
Residential Student Delegate rate: £85
The delegate rates includes all food and accommodation on the night of Monday 26th January.
