PopFest 2015: The 23rd Annual Population Postgraduate Conference
Monday 6 - Wednesday 8 July 2015
Plymouth University, Drake Circus, Plymouth PL4 8AA
Plymouth University is pleased to host the 23rd annual PopFest conference from the 6th to the 8th of July, 2015. PopFest is an annual multidisciplinary population studies conference for postgraduate students, organised by postgraduates. The event provides a forum for postgraduate students studying any aspect of population in a range of disciplines including Social Sciences, Demography, Human Geography, Social Anthropology, Social Statistics, Health, Development, Social Policy and other related fields. PopFest aims to provide a relaxed and supportive environment for students to come together to present their work and discuss ideas. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow students in the same area, practice presentation skills and get feedback from peers. For those not wishing to present, it is a good chance to be up to date with ongoing research and for social networking.
Confirmed keynote speakers are Naomi Tyrrell, Plymouth University and Oliver O’Brien, UCL. Naomi’s work focuses on family migration processes and children's geographies. Oliver investigates and implements new ways of visualising spatial data, particularly on transport data and London.
Two workshops on the topics of ‘getting published’ and ‘careers in academia’ will also be running during the event.
Abstracts for oral presentations and poster sessions are both welcome. PopFest also gives postgraduates the opportunity to chair sessions, if you are interested in chairing a session please contact us.
