Dear All,
I see from a couple of e-strings that people are starting to get to grips with the C4SL methodology. I have read the Main report and note the important and reoccurring statement, namely that, such work should only be carried out by a,
"suitably qualified individual who sufficiently understands the nature of the toxicology and epidemiological data".
Mindful of my obvious lack of knowledge and experience in this area I have sought further training from a number UK universities and overseas institutions, CIEH and SOT and to date come up short. In particular (I guess) I will need to learn how to select and interpret the pivotal study for a particular substance, derive a point of departure (LOEL/NOEL) or BMD (using the US EPA software) and to apply the appropriate study specific modifying factors.
I wonder whether the C4SL panel can recommend a suitable CPD course that will provide me with the toxicological background required to use the C4SL methodology and to equip me to critically review the C4SL decisions and derivations of others?
Many thanks
David E Jackson
