As Chair of the UK Archive Service Accreditation Committee, I am pleased to announce that the following archive services have recently been awarded accredited status, showing they have reached national standards relating to the long-term collection, preservation and accessibility of the nation's archive heritage.
• Barts Health NHS Trust Archives
• Glamorgan Archives
• Gloucestershire Archives
• Institute of Education Archive, University of London
• Jersey Archive
• Lothian Health Services Archive
• National Records of Scotland
• Norfolk Record Office
The newly accredited archive services come from across the UK, including National Records of Scotland, which was assessed under the arrangements for accreditation of national bodies. We were also delighted to include the first non-UK accredited archive service, as Jersey Archive opted to participate in the scheme. The eight services represent some of the diversity of archive services across the UK including, national, local authority and university archives and the first two health archives to achieve accredited status. Our congratulations to all the successful services.

Archive Service Accreditation, the UK-wide standards scheme for the archives sector, was established in 2013 to celebrate and recognise good practice, identify agreed standards and encourage and support development across archive services. Archive Service Accreditation has been developed in partnership with the archive sector and its stakeholders and is supported by a UK partnership of the Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland), Archives and Records Council Wales, the Welsh Government through CyMAL: Museums Archives and Libraries Wales, National Records of Scotland, Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, Scottish Council on Archives, and The National Archives. Find out more about Archive Service Accreditation and how your service may benefit from participating at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/accreditation.
