This solution may be a little misleading Tim.
Defining uncertainty is a requirement of UKAS accreditation to ISO 15189 standard not the CPA accreditation standard.
As far as I know there are no labs out there offering a Xanthochromia method accredited under ISO 15189 yet so you may find it difficult to find a lab offering uncertainty values for Xanthochromia. However, sending the request away does mean you won't have to calculate the uncertainty. I would question whether the TAT meets the users/clinical need though.
You can find UKAS accredited laboratories here:
http://www.ukas.com/About-Accreditation/Accredited-Bodies/Medical-Laboratories.asp
There is also some useful info on uncertainty via the UKAS website.

Our solution was to work on the basis that it was a useless test of minimal clinical utility so when someone wants it we send it elsewhere. That way, it is not our problem to work out the uncertainty (which is massive) because the result comes from an accredited lab.

Dear All,
We are preparing for an upcoming UKAS inspection and I would be interested to know how other laboratories have made an assessment of measurement uncertainty for CSF xanthochromia analysis?
Also, does anyone use CSF Xanthochromia IQC?
Any information is much appreciated!
Best wishes,
Francesca.
