Jill I have not been on the London underground lately -they did have poems a few against millions of intrusive adverts
Anyone been on the Moscow underground that sounds fine?

Hi Patrick,
Yes, everyone seems far away on public transport. I notice it more here as I am not using a smart phone in Stockholm so I'm not doing my reading that way. Thus, I watch or read a book or write. I'm sure people are reading news or books on their devices, as well as texting, listening to music, making calls, and the like. It's all activity.
I recall that on the Paris metro nearly everyone was reading a book or newspaper, and the books were often hefty looking tomes. Last time I was there, however, there were more non paper devices being read, in various ways. The Paris metro in recent years had poems on the carriage walls. They still do that on London underground, poems?
The Melbourne underground isn't very extensive. Neither is Sydney's for that matter. It's all mostly above ground. No underground at all in Adelaide, but lots of rail crossings.

Thanks, Bill, comment appreciated - the stillness, or moment, in the movement, was something I was interested in.

The opening two, perhaps three lines nail this poem for me, Jill. The sense of pre-ordained stillness within that shuffling movement.
