Dear Colleagues
Jisc Collections contracts with the Secretary of State to licence Ordnance Survey data for the Digimap service. Given the status of the licensor and the very high commercial value of the data, we do have to agree liabilities we would not accept from a commercial provider.
This licence is not materially different to the previous one, except that the permitted uses are more liberal.
The liability (15.10 in the new sub licence) is an improvement given that previously there was no cap on liability and now there is - £500k.
Kind regards
Lorraine Estelle
CEO Jisc Collections

The two you have pulled out are of particular concern as it is against University policy to offer indemnities. This is mainly due to the fact as a charitable organisation , under Trust law we must protect our assets for the purposes of education and research. Our insurers have also advised that they may not cover a claim where indemnity has been given.
