Dear all,
I had this query from Robert Massey at the Royal Astronomical
Society. He asks, has the UK Government taken our advice that
it should consult the geoscience community about geohazards?
Bluntly: if you are an expert on geohazards, has it asked you?
We should be very grateful to know. Please respond to me
or directly to Robert Massey.
Thanks!

Hi Sheila,
The Commons Science and Technology Select Committee is running its legacy inquiry, looking at how various recommendations have been followed up.
In the 2010 ‘emergencies’ inquiry, the Committee recommended that government (BIS) engage with the earth sciences community on future risks such as volcanic eruptions that could affect UK airspace and that their advice should help shape the national risk register. Can I ask if you’re aware of this happening in practice?
Regards,
Robert
