Subject: question about Life in the UK
Dear Newham ESOL Exchange Member One of our members has contacted me with
the following question. If anyone can help please contact me and I will pass
the information on or put you in touch with her: I am trying to find out
what is acceptable to show as proof address to a Life in the UK test centre.
I have a friend who is here on a spouse visa, he is living with his in-laws
and the only proof of address he has is a medical card and council letters
to show that he is paying rent to his father-in-law. Banks are not accepting
any of these as proof of address and so he can't even open a bank account.
He hasn't got long before his visa expires and so he has to do the Life in
the UK test asap, but the requirements are that he shows some kind of proof
